Nokia Siemens Networks announced that Mobilink has deployed Nokia Siemens Networks’ 3GPP compliant mobile softswitch. The Release 4 softswitch allows Mobilink to immediately reduce operating expenses, while accelerating deployment of new services to mobile subscribers.

To rapidly and cost-effectively introduce new revenue-generating telephony services and applications into its network, Mobilink worked closely with Nokia Siemens Networks to develop a turnkey solution, based on MSC Server System including a Multimedia Gateway. The MSC Server system is part of Nokia Siemens Networks’ Unified Core Network, providing a common network architecture to support fixed mobile convergence and next generation access technologies, such as 3G, Voice over IP (VoIP) and WiMAX.

Mobilink is happy to extend its cooperation with Nokia Siemens Networks by selecting its MSC Server System for our network growth and modernization,” said Tamer El Mahdy, Chief Technology Officer. “With Nokia Siemens Networks’ mobile softswitch, Mobilink will be able to add higher capacity to the network, better utilize network resources, reduce costs and offer state-of-the-art services to our customers“.

Nokia Siemens Networks currently has 170 customers using mobile softswitching in over 50 live networks and is one of the world’s leading enablers of telecom technology.

We are pleased to have met Mobilink’s demand for a powerful and cost-effective solution to deploy in its network,” said Dirk Lewandowski, Head of Customer Business Team for Orascom Telecom, at Nokia Siemens Networks. “We look forward to a continued partnership with Mobilink, providing world class technology while bringing significant cost savings and a clear evolution in next generation networks“.

Nokia Siemens Networks believes that the future of the communications industry lies in understanding and uniting communities. Driven by a desire to have 5 billion people connected by 2015, Nokia Siemens Networks will have an unparalleled capability to deliver ‘end-to-end’ convergent solutions based on a broad portfolio of fixed and mobile infrastructure products, services and devices.
