Style guru Stacy London, of TLC’s “What Not to Wear” and “Fashionably Late with Stacy London,” is launching today an exclusive new Web site with Sprint, www.sprint.com/mymobilestyle. The site is designed to help people decide what mobile phone best fits their personal style and help holiday gift-givers find the perfect gift for loved ones.
The mobile phone that each person chooses to carry is a clear expression of her or his individual personality, and this month CTIA-The Wireless Association(R) estimated that the number of wireless subscribers reached an all-time high in the United States by passing the 250 million mark.(1) This figure demonstrates that the mobile phone has become the most ubiquitous fashion accessory for Americans.
“The mobile phone is literally the one accessory that you display in public every single time you go out. If someone told you that you could only wear one watch for the foreseeable future, or one pair of earrings, I know that everyone would give considerable thought to what they would pick out, so your mobile phone should be no different,” said Stacy. “I partnered with Sprint on this project because Sprint understands that your mobile phone is a major reflection of who you are.”
With that in mind, Stacy’s new Web site features a quiz to help individuals determine their mobile style, calculated by answering a few questions to determine their interests and tastes. Based on the results, Stacy not only categorizes the site visitor, but also recommends what mobile phone fits her or him best. The quiz categories are: Runway Ready, Superconnected, NRNDNGTXTR, Tuned In, Geek Chic, Biz-Intense and The Ultimate Fan. Throughout the Web site, video clips of Stacy offer her trademark friendly, insightful and to-the-point advice.
For example, the quiz first asks for the following line to be completed: “Before I go out, I always…” The respondent can then select from five multiple-choice answers, including “Check my hair in the mirror” or “Put in my earphones.” At the completion of the quiz, those answers may lead Stacy to say the respondent is “Runway Ready,” meaning that the best choice for her or his phone is very sleek and trendy such as the Touch by HTC(R). Or Stacy may determine that the respondent is “Tuned In,” meaning that a phone with many music features and MP3-player-like buttons such as the MUZIQ(TM) by LG(R) may be the right fit. Videos of Stacy then show her demonstrating on mannequins what outfits each category of person, including “Runway Ready” or “Tuned In,” might be wearing.
Stacy’s new show “Fashionably Late with Stacy London” as well as “What Not to Wear” can be seen on Sprint video-enabled phones through a live simulcast of TLC on Sprint TV. Right on their mobile screen, Sprint customers can watch TLC and 35 other channels by subscribing to Sprint Xtra, which costs an additional $9.99 per month with any data plan (casual usage charges would apply for access to these applications without a data plan).
