Telecommunications company BITĖ Lietuva in cooperation with Vodafone and Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the launch of the BlackBerry wireless solution in Lithuania.
The BlackBerry solution is renowned for its secure push-based wireless access to email and other applications. When an email arrives at the user’s account, the message is automatically delivered to the BlackBerry smartphone. In addition to wireless email access, BlackBerry smartphones enable customers to make calls, send and receive messages (SMS, MMS, and Instant Messaging), browse the Internet and access their organizer as well as thousands of business and lifestyle applications.
BITĖ will offer customers a choice between the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 and BlackBerry Curve 8310 smartphones. Both models provide business professionals and consumers a robust and easy-to-use communications solution for staying connected to the people and information that matter most to them.
“Bringing the world’s leading mobile solution to the Lithuanian market signifies yet another milestone in our commitment to offer our customers the products they desire. The BlackBerry solution will enable our customers to manage their contacts, information and communication requirements in a way that suits their lifestyle,” says Ken Campbell, CEO of BITĖ Group.
Charmaine Eggberry, Vice President and Managing Director, EMEA at RIM added, “We are pleased to be working with BITĖ and Vodafone to bring the many benefits of the industry leading BlackBerry solution to customers in the Lithuanian market. The BlackBerry Curve 8310 and the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 both combine powerful communications and rich multimedia capabilities with exceptional usability.”
One of the smallest and lightest smartphones on the market, the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone packs power and functionality in an elegant design. Within its sleek and stylish exterior, this award winning smartphone includes powerful communications features and rich multimedia capabilities including a camera, music and video player and an expandable memory slot for additional storage.
The BlackBerry Curve 8310 is a powerful and intuitive smartphone that features a full QWERTY keyboard, yet is compact in size. The smartphone also includes rich multimedia capabilities, as well as built-in GPS that supports location-based applications and services such as mapping and navigation.
BITĖ will offer BlackBerry Enterprise Server for corporate use and BlackBerry Internet Service for smaller businesses and individual users.
BlackBerry Enterprise Server is designed for organisations that manage their own email servers. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server software tightly integrates with IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise and offers advanced encryption and IT policy controls to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.
BlackBerry Internet Service is designed for smaller businesses and individuals. It allows customers to access up to 10 supported corporate and personal email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts such as Yahoo! Mail and Google Mail) from a single device.
