sprint logoSprint wireless customers in Ohio who instantly want to communicate during the state’s March 4 presidential primary should experience even better wireless service as a result of Sprint’s local network enhancements. Sprint added 82 wireless cell sites during 2007 and has continued to increase capacity in the new year.

“Sprint networks are operating at best-ever levels and our Ohio customers are reaping the rewards with crisper calls and top-notch coverage,” said Kevin Gleason, area vice-president for Ohio. “Customer satisfaction is our No. 1 goal this year and we’re committed to that goal through continued network enhancements.”

verizonVerizon Wireless announced today that it has expanded the national rollout of its high-speed wireless network to Warren County including the towns of Clarendon, Garland, Irvine, Russell, Sheffield, Warren, and Wrightsville.

verizonVerizon Wireless today said its upcoming Open Development Device Conference will feature the release and publication of Version 1.0 of the technical specifications for new wireless devices that will work on its “Any Device, Any App” network-only service option.

The conference, scheduled for March 19 in New York City, will focus on how traditional device and consumer electronics companies and entrepreneurs new to the wireless ecosystem can bring new wireless devices to the marketplace under Verizon Wireless’ Open Development initiative. The conference will establish shared goals of streamlining the certification and delivery of exciting new devices while preserving the company’s optimal network performance.

Sprint also recently received two ATLANTIC-ACM 2008 Global Wholesale Carrier Excellence Awards, receiving first place in the Brand and Data Product Quality categories, recognizing Sprint’s leadership in working with regional and global carriers and integrator partners to help address the growing demand for MPLS VPN capabilities across the world.

sprint logoAT&T announced a new three-year networking contract with Louisiana-based LAMMICO, a preferred insurer dedicated to developing and delivering insurance products and services to Louisiana physicians and other health care providers.

Under terms of the agreement, AT&T will deliver Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to LAMMICO’s four domestic locations; three in Louisiana and an off-site disaster recovery data center in Denver. The enterprise-class network also provides the flexibility and scalability to expand upon existing services as the company’s communications needs grow. The any-to-any solution, which uses AT&T’s Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, will allow LAMMICO to prioritize and transfer critical data to alternative locations throughout the network. AT&T’s MPLS network also provides high levels of redundancy for network reliability.

Nokia Morph conceptMorph, a joint nanotechnology concept, developed by Nokia Research Center (NRC) and the University of Cambridge (UK) - was launched today alongside the “Design and the Elastic Mind” exhibition, on view from February 24 to May 12, 2008, at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Morph features in both the exhibition catalog and on MoMA’s official website.

Morph is a concept that demonstrates how future mobile devices might be stretchable and flexible, allowing the user to transform their mobile device into radically different shapes. It demonstrates the ultimate functionality that nanotechnology might be capable of delivering: flexible materials, transparent electronics and self-cleaning surfaces. Dahua Digital is a privately held, developer, manufacturer, and marketer of cable set-tops and related low cost integrated circuits for the emerging Chinese cable business. Dahua Digital’s leading set-top portfolio includes basic set-tops, two-way interactive set-tops and the high-end media-center class of products. Dahua Digital also has a substantial China cable operator customer base. Its strong, established support infrastructure for digital cable customers includes focused development resources, a direct sales force for the existing regional customers, an established field engineering team and an integration team to ensure that customer requirements are met rapidly.
