This new channel is exclusively available on mobile through Verizon Wireless’ V CAST Mobile TV service and includes popular programs such as Sucker Free Latino, Karlifornia, Quiero Mis Quinces, Pimpeando, and Rock Dinner.

EricssonEricsson will conduct the world’s first demonstration of end-to-end HSPA Evolution technology with speeds of up to 42 Mbps at CTIA Wireless 2008, which is being held in Las Vegas from April 1 to 3.

Speeds of up to 42 Mbps represent the next phase in HSPA Evolution. These speeds are achieved by combining new higher order modulation technology (64QAM), together with 2×2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology. The first step of the HSPA evolution will be introduced during 2008.

AT&TAT&T announced a two-year contract to provide global voice services to Corning Incorporated, a leading manufacturer of specialty glass and ceramics. Under the contract, AT&T will provide international voice, video and teleconferencing, calling-card and toll-free services to more than 120 Corning locations worldwide.

The solution, which employs switching and transport networks with multiple levels of breadth and depth, will help ensure that all calls throughout AT&T’s global network are secure and reliable. Further support will be provided by AT&T’s Network Operations Center, which will monitor and manage the network 24/7.

Motorola Introduces New CDMA EV-DO Base Site Controller

MotorolaMotorola announced the availability of a new IP-BSC-DO, a highly scalable EV-DO Base Site Controller (BSC) platform that enables CDMA operators to quickly and cost effectively upgrade the DO broadband data capacity. The new IP BSC provides 12 times the site capacity and IP data session capacity compared to the first generation DO BSC, while using significantly less floorspace. The new IP-BSC-DO is expected to be available for commercial shipment to operators worldwide in Q2 2008.

The new IP-BSC-DO product offers a higher bandwidth platform that not only supports existing operators’ high speed data applications, but also is well suited to support advanced data applications like Voice over IP, video telephony and multimedia push-to-X services. The new product utilizes custom application software integrated into emerging telecom industry standard ATCA hardware platform technology to provide a highly scalable and cost efficient BSC solution.

The new 1,300-square-foot store employs 12 people and has been designed to make wireless shopping more convenient for new customers and to provide current customers with greater access to the full array of Verizon Wireless products, services and technical support.

verizonThis week, students from five Rochester schools will participate in a motivational program hosted by bestselling author and former professional football player Eugene Napoleon, and streetball legend Waliyy Dixon, aka “Main Event.” As part of the Verizon Wireless “STR8 TLK” program, Napoleon and Dixon will share important messages about education, goal setting and personal responsibility.

Programs will be presented at the School Without Walls Jr. and Sr. High Schools, Thomas Jefferson High School, John Marshall High School, and Global Media Arts High School in Rochester beginning Wednesday, March 26 through Friday, March 28. EricssonEricsson and Grameen CyberNet Limited, a leading internet service provider in Bangladesh, have signed a contract for a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network based on Ericsson’s GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) solution. The move will allow Grameen CyberNet to provide advanced broadband services, such as games and video-on-demand services, to its customers.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will deliver central office optical equipment and devices for the home based on its EDA 1500 solution, plus infrastructure such as fiber systems and cables.

“Our decision to separate our Mobile Devices and Broadband & Mobility Solutions businesses follows a review process undertaken by our management team and Board of Directors, together with independent advisors,” said Greg Brown, Motorola’s president and chief executive officer. “Creating two industry-leading companies will provide improved flexibility, more tailored capital structures, and increased management focus – as well as more targeted investment opportunities for our shareholders.”

Motorola Demonstrates CDMA Femtocell Solution at CTIA

MotorolaMotorola will demonstrate its expanded femtocell portfolio, including its CDMA solution, at Motorola’s booth #1806 at CTIA Wireless 2008 Apr. 1-3 in Las Vegas. An expansion to its current line of femtocell customer premises equipment (CPE), including the company’s first 3G UMTS femtocell CPE announced at Mobile World Congress last month, the CDMA-based femtocell enhances the company’s end-to-end femtocell portfolio.




The addition of the CDMA femtocell combined with the previously announced 3G UMTS solution means Motorola offers a portfolio of femtocell solutions for both technologies. The CDMA femtocell solution is expected to be commercially available in the fourth quarter of 2008.
