AT&TAT&T today announced a new voice and Internet Protocol (IP) services contract with Bulkmatic Transport Co., a leader in dry bulk cargo shipping and distribution. Addressing bandwidth issues and network reliability, AT&T’s network solution will support traffic for more than 30 domestic locations on a consolidated, integrated platform.

Under the terms of the three-year contract, AT&T — Bulkmatic Transport Co.’s primary voice and network provider — will deploy its Private Network Transport (PNT), a fully managed network solution that runs on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology. AT&T’s PNT offers any-to-any connectivity, providing secure access from Bulkmatic Transport Co.’s many locations. Additionally, the PNT solution’s expanded bandwidth will enhance the stability and convenience of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications across the platform. VoIP technology provides flexibility to AT&T’s customers, allowing greater convergence of data and voice applications on a single network structure.

“With expanded bandwidth, our company is enhancing the ease and flexibility of our business operations,” said David Tarra, director of Information Technology, Bulkmatic Transport Co. “AT&T’s quality products have streamlined our communications among our locations, and getting all of our network traffic on a single digital highway helps us control our costs.”

In addition to voice and data services, Bulkmatic Transport Co. will receive the benefit of simplified and convenient billing with AT&T’s BusinessDirect® platform. Access to this service provides the enterprise with financial management tools that allow the shipping company to view and analyze company information and pay bills online.
