AT&T today announced an agreement with Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation (MCCF) that gives students, faculty and staff members access to discounted wireless rate plans and devices. In addition, MCCF has earmarked a portion of the proceeds generated from the student sales for its scholarship fund. This is the third year running that the two organizations have teamed-up to aid Maricopa Community College students and MCCF’s Scholarship Fund.
“We are extremely excited by this partnership,” said Jeff McElfresh, vice president and general manager for AT&T’s wireless services in Arizona. “This relationship with MCCF is beneficial to students as well as Maricopa Community Colleges’ employees and further demonstrates our ongoing investment in the Greater Phoenix community.”
“We are delighted that through this partnership we’re able to offer students substantial discounts on wireless rate plans and cell phones, while also producing additional revenue for student scholarships and other initiatives funded through our Foundation,” said Dr. Steve Helfgot, president and CEO of the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation. “The vast majority of our students use wireless phones. Helping them reduce the cost of that service while we increase the scholarship money available to them is a win-win situation for everyone.”
In order to participate in this scholarship fundraising program, students, faculty and staff members can go to any local AT&T retail store, present valid identification and request their discount.
“We are excited to provide students at MCCF access to these special discounts for our wireless services,” said McElfresh. “It is clear that mobile technology — from instant messaging, text and video messaging, mobile e-mail, to wireless music and more — is playing a bigger role in how college students communicate with friends and relatives and stay organized.”
