Motorola today announced it has been recognized with one of the world’s foremost industrial design honors, an iF product design award. Motorola’s APX™ 7000 portable multi-band two-way radio was lauded for its innovative dual-sided design and compact, rugged form factor – purpose-built to address the unique requirements of government and public safety users.
Developed under a user-centered design integration process that blends the art of design with the rigors of social science, the APX radio is rich with applications including integrated GPS, text messaging, intelligent lighting and user-controlled radio profiles. The APX radio was designed specifically for first responders by applying the science of High Velocity Human Factors (HVHF). The result is a portable radio that features a slip-free T-Grip with raised, slanted knobs and buttons made especially for gloved hands. In review, APX was praised for design quality, workmanship, choice of materials, degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of use and universal design – all tenants of the iF evaluation platform.

Deployed with more than fifty service providers worldwide, Motive’s HDM simplifies and accelerates the mass-market rollout and management of popular services such as high-speed Internet, IPTV and VoIP. It also streamlines device configuration, technical support and on-going management for a variety of customer premise equipment (CPE) – including residential gateways, IPTV set-top boxes, VoIP adapters, femtocell access points and other devices that comprise a home network.
By utilizing HDM, service providers can offer their customers a simple, consistent and unique service experience – no matter the complexity of the underlying “digital home” network.
Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, an Alcatel-Lucent company and the leader in customer service software, expanded its portfolio by acquiring Conseros, which provides a key business application that enables enterprises to manage and distribute high volumes of work items virtually anywhere in the enterprise. The solution gives business users visibility and control of the tasks, priorities and people who are responsible for service delivery. Conseros is privately held and headquartered in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

AT&T Interactive and Idearc Media LLC today announced that they have entered into a cross distribution agreement that will give YELLOWPAGES.COM advertisers and SUPERPAGES.COM advertisers the opportunity for additional online placements on two leading local search Web sites.
The agreement adds significant value to advertisers by extending their reach to consumers and increasing the ability to generate quality customer leads. YELLOWPAGES.COM and SUPERPAGES.COM will now also have the opportunity to share business profiles and other enhanced content from each other’s advertisers providing consumers access to more comprehensive and relevant information.
Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, an Alcatel-Lucent company, today announced it has acquired SDE Software Development Engineering GmbH (“SDE”). SDE’s primary product, called Genesys Customer Interaction Portal, is a web-based thin client software solution that helps service providers deliver hosted contact center capabilities, such as self-service and agent-assisted service, to enterprise customers. The customer interaction portal is a key component in Genesys’ hosted contact center solution strategy.
With the acquisition of SDE, Genesys acquires the Genesys Customer Interaction Portal (GCIP) product, all associated intellectual property and the intact SDE development team. The company is a privately held limited liability company organized under the laws of Germany and was formerly part of VoicInt Telecommunications, GmbH.
