Alcatel-Lucent today announced its Rich Communications Manager, delivering the next generation of unified rich messaging through a single web portal to provide enhanced messaging and communications to fixed, mobile, and IP devices.

With this new functionality, fixed and mobile end users can retrieve, view, respond, and forward video, photos and text from a web portal that also integrates address books between user devices. Leveraging familiar, intuitive desktop concepts, subscribers can now easily drag and drop content across voice mail, SMS, MMS, email, faxes, calendars, and address books. In addition to eliminating the traditional barriers between various networks by making all mobile and PC communications visible in one place, the Rich Communications Manager eliminates multiple logins, user interfaces and contexts defined by different messaging applications.

Alcatel-Lucent today announced that it has been awarded an extension contract by Delta Telecom, a fast growing data, voice and backbone service provider in the Caucasus region, to extend its IP Multi-Protocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) backbone network. The scope of the contract includes design, deployment and maintenance of the network.

Alcatel-Lucent’s Carrier Ethernet and IP/MPLS solutions enable Delta Telecom LLC to offer highly reliable communication services to its business customers. The newly upgraded IP/MPLS network will form the platform for future services, which will enable the next wave of advanced services with minimal further investment.

Video competition has reached Chicagoland in a big way, meaning more local residents and their televisions can cut ties with cable. AT&T today announced that AT&T U-verseSM TV, Internet and Voice services are now available to more than one million living units in and around the Chicagoland area.

In just over a year since the launch of AT&T U-verse services in the Chicagoland area, AT&T U-verse TV has continued to rapidly expand and redefine the television experience for Illinois consumers. U-verse TV is offered today in parts of more than 270 area communities, including Joliet, Waukegan, Mundelein, St. Charles and Crystal Lake, and AT&T plans to continue reaching even more customers on an ongoing basis.
