AT&TAT&T and McAfee, today announced that the latest AT&T Internet Security Suite version has been upgraded to McAfee-based anti-virus software to enhance customers’ protection from viruses, spyware and hackers. This update to the AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee strengthens customers’ ability to surf the Web, shop and bank online worry-free.

Qualified AT&T High Speed Internet customers, including AT&T U-verseSM High Speed Internet customers, will receive a complimentary subscription to McAfee anti-virus software as part of their existing AT&T Internet Security Suite. AT&T’s comprehensive suite of security services includes anti-virus protection, anti-spyware, two-way firewall protection, anti-phishing solutions, PC tune-up tools, McAfee® SiteAdvisor® technology — a Web site safety tool — and McAfee Active Protection™ technology to provide the fastest protection against malicious threats to PCs.

AT&TAT&T was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in its independent report: “The Forrester Wave™: Managed Global Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Services, Q4 2009” (October 2009) (1). In this evaluation, AT&T was cited as a leader and received the highest scores in both strategy and market presence, including the strongest sales capabilities and the strongest financials.

Additionally, AT&T’s scores for its 2009 to 2010 “strategic plans for network and MPLS service portfolio enhancement and its customer stickiness program are well above average compared with other providers evaluated.”

NokiaSAP, Nokia and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) today have announced plans to form a new company, named “Original1,” to deliver unique product authentication and anti-counterfeiting services across the globe. These services will be aimed at protecting companies and consumers in a wide range of industries from product piracy and counterfeiting, thereby maintaining brand values, revenue potentials and profitability of branded goods. Original1 will be headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, and headed by Claudia Alsdorf, currently vice president of SAP Research. The new company is expected to begin operations before the end of 2009, subject to the approval of the responsible anti-trust authorities. The announcement was made at SAP® TechEd 2009, being held October 27-29 in Vienna, Austria.

“Counterfeiting is a worldwide problem that is increasing and affecting many successful companies in all industries,” said Alsdorf. “Today, more than ever, companies need to combat counterfeiting before it’s too late, when their company livelihood is at stake.
