Italian site Morse.it reports that Vodafone has signed an agreement with Apple for the exclusive distribution rights to 3G iPhone UMTS. The UMTS iPhone 3G will be launched next spring, simultaneously in all countries where Vodafone operates.
The new 3G UMTS iPhone should be announced after Christmas, or early next year (Macworld Expo?), so as not to negatively impact Christmas sales of the current generation iPhone.

This story resonates well with The Register report about 3G iPhone launch next spring, and Morse.it has reported the news already last week.

No Comments »China Mobile Ltd. is in talks with Apple Inc. about bringing the iPhone to China, but no agreement has been reached yet, the telecom’s chief executive said Tuesday.
The companies still need to iron out their differences over revenue sharing, Wang Jianzhou told reporters on the sidelines of the GSMA Mobile Asia Congress in the Chinese territory of Macau.
Apple launched its iPhone in the U.S. earlier this year. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company has plans to launch the device in Asia in 2008 and is in talks with various operators in the region.
China Mobile is China’s largest cell-phone carrier.
The most eagerly awaited gadget of the year, Apple’s iPhone, goes on sale in Britain and Germany this week to test European appetite for the mobile phone that thousands queued for in the U.S. in June.
Consumer electronics company Apple, mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse and mobile operator O2 will open stores around 1800 GMT on Friday in Britain for just four hours for a hoped-for stampede for the touch-screen phone.
In Germany it will be sold by Deutsche Telekom’s mobile phone division T-Mobile. It will go on sale in one Telekom shop in Cologne just after midnight on Friday morning and will then roll out across the country.
Hundreds of extra staff have been taken on, and companies are hoping Apple’s combined iPod music player, Web browser and camera will catch the public imagination in time for Christmas.
O2 UK, owned by Spanish telecoms group Telefonica , secured the exclusive network deal for the phone in Britain and expects the device to be its fastest-selling handset yet, with around 200,000 selling by the three outlets by Christmas and the New Year.
AT&T announced a new international plan that gives iPhone users 50 MB of data per month to browse the Web, check e-mail and access other information in more than 29 countries, including Canada, China, Mexico and in areas throughout Europe and Asia.
The new Data Global Plan is available to iPhone customers for $59.99 a month, which is in addition to the domestic voice and data iPhone plan they purchase during iPhone activation. The Data Global Plan enables international voice and data roaming, as well as international long distance dialing from the United States at standard rates.
The plan requires customers to first purchase a domestic voice and data plan for the iPhone and is not available as a stand-alone offer. Normal eligibility requirements for international plans apply. Should customers exceed the 50MB bucket in the 29 countries where the plan applies, they will pay $.005/KB. Outside those countries, consumers will simply pay for their data usage by the kilobyte, at rates starting as low as $.010/KB.
AT&T also offers a 20MB Data Global Plan for iPhone customers for $24.99 a month. The 20MB bucket applies to usage within the same 29 countries, with overage rated at $.005/KB. Outside the 29 designated countries, the data usage rate is $.0195/KB.
AT&T advises international travelers to remember to check their wireless options as a part of their pre-trip planning process.
Travelers can visit http://www.att.com/wirelessinternational to see whether service is available in the countries to which they are going. Travelers can go to http://www.att.com/travelguide to determine whether their wireless device has the frequency and wireless technology needed at their travel destination. Consumers can also visit http://www.att.com to learn more about AT&T international calling plans and services and purchase the revolutionary iPhone itself.
The iPhone brings some of the most evolved features that mobile phones have to offer nowadays. This has high chances of forcing smartphone producers to add some evolved hardware, also raising the price that their devices come for.
It’s clear that the iPhone has had a huge influence on mobile pones since its unveiling. And any doubts we
might have can be instantly shattered only by taking a look at all the evolved handsets that leverage touchscreen performances at high standards and now even try to pack the auto-rotation function of this device.
Apple’s phone also influenced the type of components that other manufacturers use. “If you took all the memory out of an iPhone and compared its insides to a Nokia N95, you’d have roughly the same cost of components”, said Portelligent head David Carey. Moreover, “The component content that is most in demand is flash chips. If everyone starts chasing the iPhone, then the costs will go up, but that will be driven more by flash”, he also added.
Where there’s gold, diamonds are sure to follow. It’s become a familiar pattern, as we saw most recently with an 18k gold Shuffle that was soon followed by a diamond-encrusted version. So it was time to start an office pool after a 24k iPhone began making the rounds a few weeks ago.
It wasn’t officially listed on Amosu’s Web site as of this writing, but we have little doubt that it’ll make good on its promise for a launch next month, given its track record–especially because it knows that there are people out there actually willing to pay the $41,225 price. We hope only that it doesn’t become the model for an iPhone pendant.

Roger’s execs promised a “device” announcement in November, a December date could jive with those promises. The leaked ad sure looks real. It promises a pre-order for the phone on Roger.com on November 20, so you can buy one before Christmas and get it in January. Which is exactly what the folks over at Molson Dry were saying last week, before they were told to pull their contest down by someone who wanted to keep the iPhone under wraps a little longer. If the phone hits in December, the price is expected to be $499 on a three year contract.
Still Rogers maintains that it has nothing to say about the iPhone. I don’t know why they are being so silly about all of this. Just let the device loose and see what happens.
Apple Inc. no longer accepts cash for iPhone purchases and now limits sales of the cell phone to two per person in a move to stop people from reselling them.
The new policy started Thursday, said Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris. Before then, there was no cash restriction and the purchase limit was five per person.
“Customer response to the iPhone has been off the charts, and limiting iPhone sales to two per customer helps us ensure that there are enough iPhones for people who are shopping for themselves or buying a gift,” Kerris said. “We’re requiring a credit or debit card for payment to discourage unauthorized resellers.”
More than 1.4 million units of the hybrid cell phone-iPod have been sold since it debuted on June 29, according to Apple. It is expected to be a hot gift for the holidays.
Apple thinks some people already have purchased multiple iPhones to resell, including those looking to modify, or “unlock,” the phones so they work on networks other than Apple’s carrier partner in the United States, AT&T Inc.
Apple estimates that buyers of 250,000 of the iPhones sold so far intended to unlock them, Apple’s chief operating officer Tim Cook said in a conference call with analysts this week.
Apple’s attempts to prevent that “unlocking” activity, which included a software update that blocked the workarounds hackers had developed, have frustrated users — and sparked two lawsuits.
If this leaked shot of a Roger’s ad turns out to be legit, we shall see the iPhone hit Canada on December, 7th. It should sell for $499CAD on a 3-year contract, and we’re guessing it will be the 8GB model.

We were told that since there is this little trademark dispute over the iPhone name in Canada, this might not be a final image, but it does look pretty polished. It also appears pre-orders will start November the 20th, but again, huge unconfirmed bit here, so take it as you will…
Mobile Phone Helpdesk already wrote about the rumoured Apple iPhone Nano. Today, the first living photos of the iPhone Nano showed up at Gadgetzone. Is this device fake and or does Apple really think about bringing an iPhone Nano to the market? A clear confirmation of the device has not been given yet, but we can conclude that the photos of the iPhone Nano look a lot like the regular Apple iPhone.

At this moment, the Apple iPhone Nano is more a rumour than reality. Is the device on the photo for real or is it fake? Will this device offer 3G functionality or onlu 2G just as with the Apple iPhone? These questions will probably not be answered any time soon.
