The iPhone has been one of the most sought-after mobile phones in recent history. Its product life follows a unique path, that’s never been seen in another mobile phone to date. Today the iPhone family will get extended as the French hop on board. Despite the hefty price and unwieldy contract stipulations, almost everyone seems to want one and some Germans are even willing to pay EUR 999 for an unlocked unit. All that inspired us of putting down some of our editorial comments into a short article.
There’s no wonder the iPhone black market is thriving and is currently bristling with activity. After all, it’s Apple themselves that have created the necessary conditions for the black market to emerge in the first place - a high-end product that’s sold exclusively. “Exclusivity” means that not everyone can have it. The black market however goes hand in hand with that sort of stuff.
No Comments »Asus is about to bring out a new smartphone that should make direct challenge to Nokia’s Communicator line of handsets. Asus M930 Communicator is highly similar to the device brought out by the Finnish producer but might come with more power and higher potential for success.
Asus M930 Communicator runs on a Marvel PXA27x 520 MHz chip, one of the highest ones found among mobile phones. There will also be packed 256MB of Flash ROM and 180MB of RAM, which sounds like just about all the needed resources to run any applications and use the handset both for work and personal needs just as good.

Remember Asus P550 PDA phone, that appeared out of nowhere on FCC site? How come Asus did not make any announcement before and even since then?
Well, today we may have an answer. Soon Asus P550 will see the light of day, but with a different name - Vodafone v1520 PDA phone.

And, if history with Vodafone Samsung F700v is any guide, there may be some exclusivity involved here and it may take a while before Asus P550 is available on other carriers.
It’s been a while since we last heard about HTC Omni communicator, the info about which leaked last July together with HTC roadmap for 2007.
Now we may know why it was never mentioned again. Looks like HTC was persuaded to drop Windows mobile OS and made Omni into Google’s Android demo phone.

The phone, code-named “Dream” inside Google, looks somewhat like Apple’s iPhone: It is thin, about 3 inches wide and 5 inches long, and features a touch-sensitive, rectangular screen… The bottom end of the handset, near the navigational controls, is slightly beveled so it nestles in the palm. The screen also swivels to one side, revealing a full keyboard beneath. (The screen display changes from a vertical portrait mode to a horizontal display when someone uses the keyboard.)
Let’s take a closer look:
HTC Dream looks very similar to HTC Omni for me. So what else is new about it?

The most eagerly awaited gadget of the year, Apple’s iPhone, goes on sale in Britain and Germany this week to test European appetite for the mobile phone that thousands queued for in the U.S. in June.
Consumer electronics company Apple, mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse and mobile operator O2 will open stores around 1800 GMT on Friday in Britain for just four hours for a hoped-for stampede for the touch-screen phone.
In Germany it will be sold by Deutsche Telekom’s mobile phone division T-Mobile. It will go on sale in one Telekom shop in Cologne just after midnight on Friday morning and will then roll out across the country.
Hundreds of extra staff have been taken on, and companies are hoping Apple’s combined iPod music player, Web browser and camera will catch the public imagination in time for Christmas.
O2 UK, owned by Spanish telecoms group Telefonica , secured the exclusive network deal for the phone in Britain and expects the device to be its fastest-selling handset yet, with around 200,000 selling by the three outlets by Christmas and the New Year.
Samsung Electronics is launching its first touch-screen, full Internet-browsing mobile phone to occupy the domestic smartphone market before the arrival of Apple’s iPhone here.

“The smartphone market is getting bigger in other countries thanks to the development of the wireless Internet infrastructure,” Samsung company said in a release. “We hope that the Multi-Touch phone will stimulate the smartphone market in Korea as well.”
Phones with touch-sensitive screens are becoming ever more popular in the high-end market since the successful debut of the iPhone in the United States, where many people use it for listening to music, checking e-mails and for casual Web surfing.
