Sprint Samsung M800 pops up

Posted by VlAD @ 09:44 pm

Today, what looks to be the official press pictures of upcoming Sprint Samsung M800 full touch screen phone, have leaked to Mobiledia.

It’s an interesting coincidence that the pictures of Samsung SPH-M800 were leaked on the same day when Samsung F490 handset was officially announced. Because with the display turned off, both phones look almost the same.

From what is known about the specs, Samsung M800 is a dumbed down CDMA version of Samsung F490.

It comes with 2 megapixel camera, CDMA 800/1900 and CDMA200 1xEV-DO connectivity, Bluetooth A2DP, USB 2.0, Sprint Navigator GPS location and microSD memory card slot.

Samsung F490 launched

Posted by VlAD @ 09:39 pm

Samsung has decided to launch it’s new 5 megapixel full touch screen phone - Samsung F490 in some strange way.

Since there were no news about this handset at CES this week, I thought they were saving the announcement for the big 3GSM show in Barcelona, next month. But I was wrong. Samsung SGH-F490 is being launched today.

Why waste the opportunity to show off the new phone at the one of the biggest trade shows of the year? And then then issue a press release, about the flagship product, that will likely be lost among the flood of news reports coming from CES?

Beats me. But here’s the official Samsung F490 press pics.

Samsung’s keypad battery pack arrangements

Posted by VlAD @ 05:16 pm

One of the major bottlenecks in the development of todays mobile phones, is the limitation of power technologies.

To have a conveniently portable handsets, the battery pack has to be rather small. But current Li-Ion batteries just can’t pack enough power to satisfy the power needs of all the chips, that fit into the latest smartphone.

Now Samsung has a neat idea, described in recent patent application, of how to remedy the problem at least a little bit.

Use the front surface for a bigger display and some navigation buttons. Then make a battery pack into removable keypad, move the keypad to the backside of the device and add small screen for calling functions.

And it’s a win all around. You have a space for a bigger display, a place for a bigger, keypad sized battery. And you also can have a multiple keypad battery packs with different layouts.

Don’t like the traditional 3×4 key layout? Just slap another keypad battery pack onto a phone, with smaller 5×4 keys, and you are done.

Samsung F490 and Samsung P720 DuoS. Live pics and Video

Posted by VlAD @ 09:43 pm

Ever since I’ve heard about the presentation of Samsung F490 And Samsung P720 phones, among others, during the press event in Ukraine, I was wandering where the heck the pictures of them were? To much Vodka, or Champagne, or something? Did the Christmas party start early?

Hello! It’s 21st century already! Text write-ups of the cool features, with months old press pics of the officially announced old models and a grainy small picture with a tiny phones line-up is not enough. We need live pics. Of each new phone model. From every angle. And video. With at least a short interface walkthrough.

Well, thankfully, somebody at Mobile-Notes was not asleep, and now we can show you how Samsung P720 DuoS and Samsung F490 look in real life:

And there’s even cool video of Samsung F490, F700 and Samsung P720 DuoS:

Samsung u940 passes through FCC

Posted by VlAD @ 10:21 pm

Look who showed up on the FCC. If it isn’t the CDMA version of the F700, the u940. You remember this little guy, right? We were the first to tell you it was coming and now it’s one step closer to being realized. Could there be an official announcement at CES? Maybe.

Followers Sansung F700 and P520 spotted

Posted by VlAD @ 09:56 pm

The Samsung Armani Phone and the Samsung F700 have just reached the shops and have already turned out to be highly successful in this short time. That Samsung had expected this success beforehand can be seen at the exclusive photos of the followers of these devices, new phones that again will steal the hearts of the Fashion fans and Ultra Messaging lovers.

At the website of UnwiredView, a photo was placed today that shows a number of Samsung devices that were presented at a press meeting in the Uktraine last week. Among these devices we find two John Does, namely the Samsung F490 (follower Samsung F700) and the Samsung P720 (follower Samsung P520 Armani Phone).

You might have heard a little this and that about the Helio Mysto device. It’s a new handset making its way to Helio’s powered by SK Telecom network, and it will launch first in the Korean American Helio market tomorrow. If you’re not Korean, you’re going to have to wait for the general market release early next year which is looking like mid-to-late January. If you want to get sneaky, though, you can head on down to Helio’s NYC or Santa Monica store on December 26th and pick one up! They’re $149 but won’t be out on display — you gotta’ tell the nice people BG sent you and have them snatch one out of the back! If you don’t make it on the 26th, you’re back in the same boat as everyone else, and have to wait another month or two. How do we like it? Well, it’s not a totally unseen device (it is a Samsung U600, after all), but Helio has completely done up the software and UI on this thing and it’s lightning fast! It also has GPS, a 2 megapixel camera, and it’s oh-so-sexy. We even heard they delayed the Mysto just to make sure everything was solid, and we’re pretty sure if you’re a Helio fan, you’re going to love it. Hit the jump for the hands-on madness!

Samsung SGH-T819 coming to T-Mobile, leaked by FCC

Posted by VlAD @ 04:00 pm

This will be the third 3G phone the 3G-less network provider has dropped recently. I guess this means they are really off their rocker, or really serious about finally opening up their 3G network.

Regardless, this thin slider phone is on its way to T-Mobile, maybe by the time it actually lands they’ll have their 3G network up and running. It has a 1.3MP cam and runs on dual-band GSM and supports T-Mobile’s planned 1700MHz WCDMA network.

So far I have yet to see a smartphone that will be running on their soon to be opened 3G network, but if I had to guess they probably have something earth-shattering and top secret up their sleeves that they are going to use to garner attention for their 3G network, meanwhile everyone else is already working on their 4G networks. But this is a pretty cool device in and of itself, and I am hoping that maybe this new network will net me some T-Mobile coverage, I doubt it though.

Helio announced the most comprehensive YouTube experience

Posted by VlAD @ 08:12 pm

On most mobile services, YouTube has been limited to a passive viewing experience without access to popular community and personalization features which have made YouTube such a huge success on the Web. Current YouTube offerings designed for mobile don’t let users “log in” and as a result, core YouTube features like rating and access to personal videos have only been available through the PC.

Those limitations are a thing of the past with the launch of Helio’s exclusive YouTube application. Available for Helio Ocean users at no additional charge and running over a nationwide high-speed 3G network, the custom application is complete with integrated video capture and upload for near real-time sharing of experiences, GPS tagging of videos, personalization and access to community features like rating and commenting on videos, all available for the first time in one place on mobile. Designed to work seamlessly with Helio Ocean, the YouTube application is another way Helio gives its members untethered access to their content and their friends.
